Life Is Like A Vapor And We Are Passing Through

I can’t help but be taken aback by how short this life is compared to eternity. When we really think about it, this life truly is like a vapor, and we are merely passing through.

Have you ever found yourself performing and living a life based on what you think other people want from you?

Truthfully, this is an all too familiar dance that I’ve shuffled my feet to for most of my life. When I had my life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ back in 2015 the most notable relief that I felt and the biggest weight that was lifted off my shoulders was that of performing for love and acceptance.

I found so much comfort in knowing that God created me on purpose and for a purpose in this generation. I basked in the freedom and truth that the calling on my life could not be revoked because the One who called me never changes.

Can I encourage you by reminding you that the same rings true in your life?

The standard in which this world operates is one that’s ever-changing. As humans, we are in this rat race towards “success” but it’s one that never ends because the finish line and the expectation keeps getting further away.

Are you tired? I know I am. Are you tired of living a life that leaves you restless, weary, and void of the peace that rescued you in your time of need?

If so, I want to invite you to turn your eyes back to Jesus. I’m not saying that your eyes have been taken off of Him but perhaps your gaze has been crowded with Jesus plus the worries of this world.

We must recognize the brevity of life in light of eternity. I want you to get back to the place of rest that Jesus called you to when He whispered in your spirit that His burden is light, and His yoke is easy.

Friend, the ways of this world and the ways of the Kingdom are not the same and there is a treasure in these earthen vessels that this world is begging to be revealed. As the children of God, He promises us that if we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness then everything else will be added to us (Matthew 6:33). Reminding myself of this truth helps me get out of the driver’s seat and give God full control.

God is calling us to a place of complete surrender and trust again.  I invite you to cease from your own labor and do everything by faith.

Rest in Him and refuse the hustle and rat race of this world that breeds performance and robs us of the very joy that God said would be our strength.

Jesus is saying… “come”.

You are loved by God and you are loved by me.

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I
will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from
me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find
rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is
light.”
